An Evening for Children’s Advocacy in Annapolis
Monday, January 30, 2012
Please Come!
Let’s remind our elected officials that learning begins at birth and continues during out of school time. High-quality child care and Head Start programs are an essential part of Maryland’s educational infrastructure, helping children arrive at school ready to succeed and keeping them learning in out-of-school time. Funding and support from our legislators for this infrastructure is critical.
Please put the Evening for Children’s Advocacy in Annapolis on your program’s calendar for January 30, 2012 and make plans now to join us in supporting funding for child care. |
We have a very informative presentation by the Department of Legislative Services scheduled that will inform participants about the process of making laws and passing budgets. We will also have experienced children’s advocates helping you find your way to your State Senators’ and Delegates’ offices, and materials to help you deliver the message that we must protect the investments we have made in Maryland’s child care infrastructure.
The schedule for afternoon and evening activities is:
4:00 p.m. Sign in and then Visit Your Legislators (please make an appointment)
5:30 p.m. Box Suppers will be provided (please RSVP)
6:00 p.m. Department of Legislative Services Presentation on the General Assembly and
the legislative process, followed by a tour of the State House
8:00 p.m. See the General Assembly in Action from the House and Senate galleries
in the State House
All participants in the Maryland Child Care Credential Program who attend will be eligible to receive one Professional Activity Unit for visiting legislators and one for attending the presentation, tour and House or Senate session, so be sure to sign in when you arrive. We will be ordering box suppers based on the number of RSVPs we receive -- please let us know by January 20th if you plan to join us and whether you will arrive in time for supper. Additional information to make the day smoother for you will be sent when we receive your registration.
