MFN Helping to Write the Story of Success
Maryland Family Network (MFN) and members of the Anne Arundel Professional Firefighters recently presented Anne Arundel County families with a gift that many of us take for granted — children’s books. On behalf of MFN, the firefighters collected hundreds of books that were donated to participants at two of MFN’s Family Support Centers in Anne Arundel County– the Annapolis Family Support Center and Anne Arundel Early Head Start Center in Shady Side. The presentations featured a special story time for the children with 20 year veteran firefighter and actor, Mario Gowland.
The Maryland Family Network Board of Directors also collected books that were donated to families at the Carroll County Family Support Center in Westminster. Photos from both events can be viewed here and here.
MFN’s 23 Family Support Centers across the state provide free services to parents and their children from birth through age three. Family Support Centers assist moms and dads in developing effective parenting skills and achieve their goals related to school, employment, and home life. The Centers also offer child care and early childhood education for infants and toddlers whose parents are enrolled in the program. The donation of books to the families help parents continue at home what is taught in the Centers.
