Racial Bias

Many of us are concerned by the high expulsion rate of children in early care and education settings.  This phenomenon was painfully highlighted recently in a New York Times editorial, and, I sadly fear, many of us are as guilty as the pre-K teachers who probably couldn’t control what their eyes were watching.  It’s so ingrained, so subconscious, this bias.  And it is frightening, that we’re looking for problems where none exists.

A new study suggests that biases against black children, especially black boys, are creeping into classrooms filled with 4-year-olds.
