Technical Assistance for Children with Behavioral Issues
One area of technical assistance provided by Maryland Family Network involves consultation regarding developmentally appropriate behavioral issues. Any child care provider in Maryland experiencing behavioral difficulties with children in your care may contact your local Child Care Resource Center for technical assistance. Consultations often involve assisting providers identify and manage specific behaviors or patterns of behavior. Consultations may also extend to providing assistance with program layout, classroom management, dealing with parents of difficult children, and redirecting instructors.
The Early Childhood Mental Health Program (ECMH), a program of the Maryland State Department of Education, also has a direct relationship with offering technical assistance to child care providers. ECMH offers consultation for more severe behavioral issues. The technical assistance staff at local Child Care Resource Centers can provider assistance and referrals for additional services, as needed.
