Training and Staff Development for Maryland’s Network of Family Support Centers
Training and staff development activities are designed to heighten awareness, build skills, and empower staff who work with very young children and their families. Maryland Family Network is committed to providing high quality training and staff development activities for staff who work in Maryland’s Network of Family Support Centers. We know that training helps to improve effectiveness, decrease staff turn-over, and elevate professionalism for staff who work with families with young children. Required training for Family Support Network staff provides a foundation in working with families with young children, while the annual schedule of training for Network staff includes a variety of training and staff development opportunities.
Required Training for Family Support Network Staff
As part of the plan to provide high-quality training and staff development opportunities, training requirements for Family Support Network staff include training in core competencies for new staff, required training modules for staff in specific positions, and participation in annual staff development conferences. Staff in the Network can refer to the Family Support Center Staff Training Requirements to identify the required training for their positions.
Annual Training for Family Support Network Staff
All staff who work in Maryland’s Network of Family Support Centers have access to high-quality training and staff development opportunities, regardless of their positions or backgrounds. In addition to required training, Family Support Network staff in specific positions have the opportunity to attend ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement sessions and training on specific tools, such as using the Life Skills Progression inventory or facilitating the Nurturing Program. Staff can refer to the training calendar to identify the training opportunities which are available this fiscal year.
