Position Title: Assistant Director, Family Support Network
FLSA Classification: Full-time, Exempt 
Reports to: Director, Family Support Network
Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Maryland Family Network (MFN) is seeking an Assistant Director for the Family Support Network to assist the Family Support Network Director with the management and training of employees, daily business tasks, program development and budgeting. The Assistant Director will assume a leadership role in the Director’s absence. In addition, the Assistant Director will perform in a community organizing capacity. Working with grassroots, public, private, and community organizations, the Assistant Director will engage in partnerships with community leaders to promote MFN’s Family Support Center programs and identify locations for a Family Support Center. When not engaged in a community organizing capacity, the Assistant Director will perform in a program consultant capacity providing technical assistance, training, and monitoring of MFN’s Family Support Center staff to assure delivery of quality services and best practices with the core services and mental health services for infants, toddlers, and their parents.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Community Development and Planning, Family Literacy, Early Childhood Education or related field;
  • Three to Five years of community organizing experience required; Five to Seven years of program experience providing services to target population required;
  • Five years of management related experience in human services or mental health required; Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of Family Support;
  • Proven experience working with adolescent parents, young parents, and culturally diverse communities and families with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate;
  • Proven experience providing training to staff and participants on topics related to Family Support;
  • Proven experience managing programs that support families residing in low resource communities;
  • Proven experience with strategic planning, in working in communities, cultivating leadership, identifying community needs and strengths, and adapting programming accordingly;
  • Proven experience with start-up programming;
  • Proven ability to formulate partnerships around common goals and needs;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Assessment skills needed to identify potential agencies to operate a Family Support Center;
  • Proven experience formulating and managing budgets and related reporting; and
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to Family Support Centers, communities, meetings, etc. throughout the State.
