Whether you are already a friend of MFN or just learned about us, you are invited to attend a First Steps tour, a free one-hour introduction to our mission. You’ll get an overview of our work on behalf of very young children and their families, hear directly from people that we serve, and learn about our vision to create a better world for children.

This concise tour of our mission highlights the three main areas of our work: making sure children have strong families, quality early learning environments, and a champion for their interests.

At First Steps, you will:

  • Meet our executive director and other leaders advocating for Maryland’s young children and their families;
  • Hear from a parent and child care provider who have participated in our programs;
  • Network with other like-minded people; and
  • Learn ways to get involved and support our mission.

You will not be asked to make a donation at a First Steps. We simply invite you to learn more about our work and the impact our mission has on so many lives.

If you are interested in attending an upcoming First Steps, please contact Outreach Manager Virginia McDaniel.

Help us Build the Nest

While we regularly hold First Steps at our Harbor East office in Baltimore City, we will gladly bring a First Steps to you! We are recruiting passionate advocates to help us Build the Nest and expand our network of supporters.

Are you and your friends interested in learning more about how you can help families with young children? Do you have a community-minded office that would like to help others as a group? Is your church or synagogue looking for a cause to support?

Consider being an Ambassador by gathering a group of 10 or more people to introduce to our mission. We will bring the First Steps experience to your location–whether it’s your home, office, place of worship, favorite restaurant, book club meeting, or other gathering place. To sign up to be an Ambassador or to get more information about becoming one, please contact Outreach Manager Virginia McDaniel.
