POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Training Director supports the Training Director in developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs and initiatives. This role involves collaborating with various departments to assess training needs, designing, and delivering training sessions, and ensuring that all training programs align with the organization's goals and standards. The Assistant Training Director will share in departmental oversight and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Training Director.

Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Training Director in creation and execution of comprehensive training program at MFN for network staff members, sponsoring agency representatives, grantee recipients, etc.
  • Provide direction, supervision, coaching, and mentoring to Training department staff, especially the Training Coordinator, in performing training-related duties. Represent the training department in meetings and discussions with senior management and other departments.
  • Coordinate with industry subject matters experts, keep abreast of current curricula and training opportunities including best practices related to early childhood development, family support, parenting education, health/mental health, substance abuse prevention, pregnancy prevention, home visiting, and life skills.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for early childhood professionals, using various instructional techniques and formats, including e-learning and in-person sessions.
  • In consultation with Training Director map out training plans and schedule for MFN’s training programs. Develop and maintain an internal associated trainer database including the MFN FSC/EHS and manage the CEUs process and MSDE Core of Knowledge hours for the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate training program effectiveness, using data and feedback for continuous improvement, and prepare reports on training activities and outcomes.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with internal and external partners to address organizational training needs and align training initiatives.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Strong Families initiative, including Parent Cafes and related events. Coordinate statewide Parent Café activities, assist with developing and managing a tracking system for requests, process fulfillment of materials and invoices, and keep the Strengthening Families team and leadership informed about necessary action.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to understand their training needs and priorities.
  • Collaborate with HR to maintain the annual employee training plan and budget.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to promote training programs and initiatives. Perform other duties, as assigned by the Training Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, psychology, social work, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in training and development, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Depth of experience in managing teams, supporting cross-functional collaboration, developing staff, and setting clear goals.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to promote training programs and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Instructional Design: Skilled in creating engaging and effective training materials and programs.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization and external partners.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple training projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with training software, e-learning platforms, and databases for tracking training activities. Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, virtual meeting and learning platforms (i.e., Zoom, Teams), Adobe Professional, and data management systems.  In-depth knowledge of traditional and current training methods and Learning Management System platforms preferred.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills for maintaining training schedules, databases, and records.
  • Public Speaking: Proficiency in delivering training sessions and workshops to diverse audiences.
  • Budget Management: Capability to assist in planning and managing the training department budget.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt training programs to meet changing organizational needs and goal High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to MFN’s mission and values.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
