Through two-generation programs that support parents to become economically self-sufficient, raise healthy, successful children, and find quality child care; through regional services that help child care professionals improve their practice; and through public policy advocacy of programs and policies that benefit families with young children, MFN strives to ensure that all Maryland children are cared for by adults who are skilled to raise them in environments that are conducive to growth and development.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shared Services Manager will lead the implementation, management, and growth of Maryland Family Network’s Shared Services Alliance for child care providers. This position is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, recruiting and onboarding members, providing tools and resources to support program sustainability, and ensuring a high-quality member experience. The Manager will work closely with internal staff, child care providers, and community partners to strengthen business practices, reduce administrative burdens, and improve program quality.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the ongoing rollout of the Shared Services Alliance in alignment with MFN’s goals and timelines.
- Manage the project plan, including staffing coordination, service delivery, and evaluation benchmarks.
- Identify and adapt tools to support daily operations of member programs (financial templates, HR resources, purchasing protocols, etc.).
- Implement a strategic marketing and recruitment plan to attract child care providers into the Alliance.
- Create and distribute member communications (email campaigns, social media, print materials).
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new members.
- Manage the shared services technology platforms to promote ease of use and excellent user experience as well as ensure accurate and appropriate content.
- Maintain ongoing communication and feedback loops to sustain member engagement.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive member experience journey, ensuring positive interactions and responsiveness to needs.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance on the use of shared tools and resources.
- Facilitate connections among members for peer learning and support.
- Cultivate relationships with community partners, vendors, and service providers to expand resources and benefits for members.
- Represent MFN at events, meetings, and conferences to promote the Shared Services Alliance.
- Track and analyze program participation, engagement metrics, and satisfaction data.
- Prepare reports to inform program improvements and communicate impact.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- Strong understanding of child care business operations, including budgeting, human resources, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of website management through WordPress, including the use of Plug-ins
- Easily able to learn and implement technology tools and platforms
- Knowledge of early childhood education systems, policies, and provider needs.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in developing outreach and marketing content.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in using digital tools for communication, collaboration, and data tracking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Program Coordination: Minimum 3 years of experience in program coordination, project management, or child care administration.
- Child Care Experience: Demonstrated experience working in the early childhood education and child care field, with a record of increasing responsibility, professional growth, and leadership in program, business, or systems-level initiatives.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) or membership database systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must possess the ability to remain in a stationary position, such as standing or sitting, 50% of the time.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- May occasionally have to position self or move to stoop, crouch, reach, push, pull or kneel.
- Must be able to communicate, express oneself and exchange information with others.
- May occasionally have to pick up an item that weighs 10 lbs. or less.
