To register for training, participants must complete registration prior to the start of the series. Registration may only be completed online and paid for with a credit card. Space is limited and interested participants are encouraged to register early. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Upon registration, a confirmation email is sent to each participant. The instructor will contact participants with all materials and connection information a minimum of five business days before the start of the series. The series may also include a mandatory technology orientation to ensure participants have access to the necessary and appropriate technology to full participate in the series.

the responsive training symposium

The Responsive Training Symposium (also known as “TOT”) is sponsored by Maryland Family Network and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. It meets the Office of Child Care’s (OCC) “train the trainer session” requirement for individuals to become approved trainers. This series provides instruction on adult learning principles, training workshop design and delivery, strategies to engage participants, successful assessment, and evaluation of a training, and much more.

Virtual Series

This series is scheduled with 12 hours of live instruction conducted on a virtual platform and six hours of independent work, completed before and after each session. The live instruction is scheduled as six sessions each lasting two hours and participants are expected to be present and engaged for the full session. Certificates are issued to those who successfully complete the series, including participation in all live sessions and completion of all assignments.

hybrid series

This series meets the MSDE requirements for a “train the trainer” session to become an approved trainer. This series is being offered in hybrid format with 2 virtual sessions (Zoom platform) sessions and 2 in-person sessions. For virtual sessions: a pre-assignment must be completed by the specified due date to receive login information, participants should have access to a device with strong internet access and a camera. For in-person sessions: participants are asked to arrive with an appropriate amount of time to be ready to begin promptly, bring any food or beverage needed throughout the day (no meals will be provided). NOTE: Participants must complete all assignments and attend all sessions to receive certificates of completion. There is no guarantee that missed sessions can be made up in subsequent series. Additionally, the cost is temporarily decreased due to additional grant funds.

the advanced training of trainers institute

The Advanced Training of Trainers Institute (also known as “ATOT”) is sponsored by Maryland Family Network and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. Approved trainers may use the hours earned in this series to meet the annual training requirement, per COMAR. This institute is intended for experienced trainers to deepen their understanding of adult learning principles and build upon their skills and experience. All participants will be required to prepare and deliver a 10-minute presentation during the institute. Currently, this series is scheduled as a two-day in person series. Certificates are issued to those who successfully complete the series, including participation in both sessions and delivery of the presentation.
