The Maryland Child Care Training Calendar offers training and professional development for trainers and leaders in early childhood education. If you are approved by the Office of Child Care to offer training to child care providers, MFN can help you to:

  • Publicize trainings for free on the Maryland Child Care Training Calendar;

  • Expand your training skills through the Advanced Training of Trainers Institute (see below); and

  • Meet the Office of Child Care’s requirement for a train-the-trainer session through the Responsive Training Symposium (see below).

If you have questions or comments about training opportunities offered through the Maryland Child Care Training Calendar, please contact us.

Become An Approved Trainer

Questions about requirements of becoming a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Office of Child Care approved trainer can be directed to MSDE here.

The Advanced Training of Trainers Institute

The Responsive Training Symposium is sponsored by Maryland Family Network and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. It meets the COMAR requirement for training of trainers (TOT) to become an approved trainer. This series has been modified for hybrid delivery consisting of 6 2-hour sessions conducted virtually with the instruction and approximately 6 hours of pre-session work to be completed. Certificates are only awarded to participants who attend all sessions and successfully complete all assignments.

All participants must pre-register as space is limited. The fee is $405 and is non-refundable. Confirmation emails are sent prior to the start of the training with connection information and training materials. Register here

The Responsive Training Symposium

The Responsive Training Symposium is sponsored by Maryland Family Network and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. It meets the Office Of Child Care’s (OCC) “train the trainer session” training requirement for approved trainers. Workshops are sequential.

You must complete Part I before you can take Part II. We strongly encourage participants to attend all three sessions in order to obtain the full benefit of the educational training sequence. Certificates acknowledging completion of the Responsive Training Symposium will be awarded and emailed to participants upon successful completion of all 3 modules.

Registration is only accepted online. Registration fees are non-refundable. Confirmation letters will be emailed to participants.

Please search the Events Calendar for “Responsive” to find upcoming sessions of the TOT Responsive Training and download the registration form. For more information, please contact Christie Berkey.
